Does the Heart play a Part with Climate?
This is not a subject or realm of thinking I might usually explore, however it is an extremely important topic due to its impacts upon the human created world and of course the ecosystem and all life on earth. It is imperative that we find and establish a Heart Based Relationship with nature – if we are to have any chance of creating Heart Based Culture! Harmonious and sustainable practices, steeped in Harmlessness at all levels, are the true foundation for the longevity of any and all peoples.
Therefore I felt need to explore some thoughts on this concept of climate change.
Change, Change, Everywhere
That the climate is changing is obvious. The patterns I grew up with are just not the same as now. This is clear. More frequent and more powerful storms, longer droughts, bigger more frequent floods, bigger fires, icecaps and glaciers melting, rising ocean levels, arctic fires, permafrost no longer permanent, mass extinctions – all this is happening, all around us, plain to see. Perhaps many of these things are not so unusual alone, but it is the combination and frequency which is new.
Yes the environment is changing.
What is apparently not clear is Human’s role in this – so they say.
What is clear however is this:
- HUMANS are polluting and poisoning the oceans, the fresh water, the land, the air – everywhere!
- HUMANS are fishing the oceans to such a degree there are now massive dead zones with no life in them.
- HUMANS have caused many species to become extinct, due to hunting and habitat destruction.
- HUMANS are damming rivers and diverting water from entire regions, sending those lands into the process of desertification.
- HUMANS are destroying entire ecosystems to make way for mining, and industrial agriculture – especially animal farming and mega-mines!
- HUMANS are breeding at an alarming and seemingly unconscious rate – which means even more land is needed for housing.
- Which means… HUMANS are chopping down forests at a frightening rate!
Not only do forests create habitat for animals and clean the air, water and land, keeping everything in balance… the trees produce rainclouds! Where enough trees are removed, the rains stop falling – except as random, massive, torrential and destructive storms.
Without forests to protect the land and slow down the wind, these winds ravage the exposed land and destroy the topsoil, making it near impossible for plants to grow. And also without trees, what little topsoil is left, gets washed away when it does rain.
HUMANS are doing this!
We are destroying the ecosystems of the earth. So whether or not the entire changing climate is “caused by humans” is truly irrelevant, in the face of the massive eco-cide we are committing!
As we rape and poison the planet, how can we possibly expect it Not to Change!?
What needs to change is the way we live on this biosphere.
We may not have control over the sun, the magnetosphere of the earth, or any astroweather… but we do have control over how we live – and this needs to change!
The climate of Human Culture needs to become Heart Centred – Now!
We need to assess and measure everything we do with the qualities of the Heart.
Asking the tough questions, and making the needed changes. We need to do this both individually and collectively.
We need to co-measure everything against: Love, Wisdom, Harmlessness, Benevolence, Aspiration, Dispassionate Compassion, Kindness and Generosity of Spirit.
If it doesn’t measure up, it needs to change – or cease altogether!
Which means… as we are truly reality creating beings – we need to change! Before our reality stops supporting us to stay alive.
We need to align our thoughts to the Heart. So that our feelings, and then actions, are creating Love and Light and Beauty in this world, instead of all the darkness and misery that is so prevalent. As we sow, so shall we reap – and it is certainly not ongoing suffering that I wish to reap! No, I want the Love and Light and Beauty thank you very much.
Tools for Transformation
In the face of so much darkness, so much heartless destruction, it is imperative we stay focused on Love. And now more than ever, we must hold our attention on what we want, rather than what we don’t. We must strive to keep ourselves free of despair – as much as we can. And not judge ourselves if we have a moment or day of feeling grief – this is a natural response to death – and let’s face it, we are in a sea of collective destruction and death.
As soon as we recognise we have slipped back into a collective-consciousness-empowered grief response, we need to surrender to allowing it, knowing it will pass. Then gently bring our awareness back to what we Love, and what we want – as soon as it feels right to do so.
Q: What do you Love?
What makes you come alive, and your Heart sing?
Despite all appearances and limitations you feel – what does your Heart want for you?
Go within and seek these answers.

PS: I have intentionally left out any discussion around CO2 specifically. My reason for this is that plants thrive on CO2, and the higher the levels, the more vigorously they grow – therefore I find this topic of discussion, somewhat muddy and unclear. I have not read nor heard anything that resembles wise consensus yet.
